The good news is that there is! Dashboards are the modern way to display important key metrics and summaries. And they don’t have to be boring, in fact they can be fun to build and use!
“Building Interactive Dashboards with Microsoft Excel” is our training syllabus designed to teach you the ins-and-outs of building Dashboards. Learning how to build Dashboards can be tricky which is why we will guide you every step of the way.

3 Syllabus Levels for building Dashboards
Beginner
(2 days) The Beginner syllabus introduces the concept of Dashboards and gets you building Dashboards straight away! You will learn how Excel’s existing features makes it easy to build interactive, visually-pleasing Dashboards.
Intermediate
(2 days) The Intermediate syllabus introduces using Excel functions to control the data displayed on your Dashboards. This also opens up the possibility of unique Dashboard interactions to give you maximum flexibility over your Dashboard.
Advance
(3 days) A challenging and rewarding syllabus where more unique Dashboard interactions are introduced. The training culminates with a roleplay exercise that will test everything you have learned about building Dashboards.
Prerequisites
Participants are expected to meet the following requirements with regards to using computers:
- know how to switch on and shut down a PC.
- comfortable using a Windows PC with common hardware including a keyboard, monitor, mouse and USB ports.
- know how to use Windows to launch applications, navigate directory structure and search for files.
Participants should also demonstrate competence with the following topics from the MS Excel Basic Syllabus and Intermediate Syllabus Syllabuses:
- Understand what spreadsheets are and what they are used for.
- Navigate the default MS Excel interface including the Ribbon, Tabs and Commands.
- Create new Workbooks and Worksheets.
- Enter data into Worksheets.
- Understand what Cell References are.
- Apply Cell Formatting and Number Formatting.
- Create formulas to perform mathematical calculations in Excel.
- Locate and insert Excel Functions including using Function Arguments.
- Sort data on one or more columns including according to a custom order.
- Filter data on one or more columns that meet specific criteria.
Finally, participants joining the Dashboards (Intermediate) training should have completed the Dashboards (Beginner) training. Likewise, participants joining the Dashboards (Advance) training should have completed the preceeding 2 training.
